Rotaract Clubs of Moscow-East and Baikal-Eco (Irkutsk city) are happy to announce that we are going to organize the V Rotaract International Week – fascinating opportunity to learn more about Russia. The goal of the event is to introduce you the aspects of Russia that you, most probably, do not know. You will learn a lot about and feel Russian history and culture as well as the world wonder – Lake Baikal.
Russia is an enigma. It cannot be understood but has to be experienced. Only by visiting Russia, meeting its people, and taking in its culture can you come close to knowing what Russia is. We offer you visiting the historical core of Russia – Moscow and a Siberian remote – Irkutsk city. So you will see the whole Russia and have a complete image of our country.
Irkutsk region is a vast territory which equals to that of several European countries put together. Our land's history is fascinating and its nature is manifold: forests, steppes, and mountains: But Lake Baikal, the deepest in the world with its unique flora and fauna is the main attraction for a lot of tourists to come here.
There are many fairy tales and legends about Lake Baikal and it is the source of inspiration for artists and poets. However, to guess a riddle of a charm of this place one should see all this, to sit for a while by a fire on the shore of the lake and lend an ear to the wave splash: One who has been here falls in love with Lake Baikal for ever. We do hope these words will help you to reach a decision to go to Siberia.
All the beauty of the Lake Baikal together with the culture and history of Russia are waiting for you in July, 2007. Irkutsk is 5000 km far from Moscow. So you’ll have an opportunity to travel by famous TranSiberian railroad. We will help you to purchase train tickets.
